Tour de France? Tour de Force! Parisian duo Leroy Se Meurt are the answer to the question what happens if you make a punk band switch their guitars and drums for synthesizers and drum computers. Singing in both French and Turkish, there’s not a chanson in sight in their abrasive mix of EBM, electro and punk. Sure, there’s a mystical and hypnotic edge to their minimalist music, but their fierce compositions mostly function like sonic wrecking balls. Having released two remarkable EP’s on Dutch underground label Enfant Terrible before, November 2023 saw the release of Leroy Se Meurt’s debut album on Berlin’s Mannequin Records, placing them in the company of Giant Swan, JASSS and a brilliant compilation of industrial music from Italy. We like almost everything about Voué à Rouiller, which translates to Doomed to Rust. We would only suggest a slight change of the album title: with Leroy Se Meurt, we’re Doomed to Dance.
