Named after a short-lived Roman Emperor remembered primarily for his brutality, Decius is the unholy alliance of Fat White Family spearhead Lias Saoudi, Warmduscher and Paranoid London’s Quinn Whalley and Liam & Luke May, the Trashmouth Records founders who once made a Velvet Underground cover that Lou Reed liked better than the original. It should come as no surprise, then, that the acid house created by these wayward pioneers is of the unwashed, primal and bacchanalian sort. Continuously teetering on the edge of hysteria, Decius fathers the bastard children of Berghain and Brixton. While their studio recordings have been praised by Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan and even Iggy Pop, it’s their sweltering live shows that have quickly turned Decius into a cult phenomenon. At Freaky Dancing, they’ll defile Dutch soil for the very first time.
